We entered on this journey hoping for an excellent experience, having heard about CDV from friends, our expectations were high.
On the first day, at Marta and Ricardo's home, we knew we were in for a treat !
We were immediately warmly welcomed by the whole family, treated to an excellent and enormous meal , complete with portonics and felt at home and just like family.
Our enjoyment grew over the week with one fantastic experience after the next all led by our terrific guide Joao who ably led our group around Porto and beyond with great knowledge, insights and an infectious joy for life.
Highlights of the tour included meeting lots of fellow travelers (we had a the best group and made many new friends ) visits to several historic sites in beautiful Portugal ( our first visit ) leaving a lasting appreciation for the country and its people. Jorge and Isabel hosted a couple of meals where we gained an appreciation for the cuisine of Portugal- always friendly, welcoming and generous with their time, culinary knowledge and their home ! Pasteis de Nata was a delight we were looking forward to and we enjoyed being involved with all the food preparation throughout the trip !
Each day was organized perfectly providing one enjoyable experience after the next. Joao and Ines always brought professionalism, fun and an extra intangible bit of joy to each day. We couldn't have hoped for better hosts. We had a tremendous time with bakeries, wineries, off roading adventures and jewelry making each as much fun as the one before. Every person involved in providing for our enjoyment was friendly, helpful, gracious and kind.
Our last night was full of enjoyment as we were provided with another authentic and abundant Portuguese meal complete with ever flowing wine and Port .Entertainment was highlighted by a "Tuna" band offering traditional music and dance. A group of young musicians who brought a fun , positive vibe to an extraordinary evening that left us sad it was over but happy for the memories.
There were too many fun and interesting events to list but we enjoyed all of this immersive, informative discovery of the country and people of Portugal . Expectations surpassed and new friendships created !
Thanks again for the trip of a lifetime.
Looking forward to our next CDV adventure !
